KATI

Kati Traunweiser is the head trainer at Phoenix Farm. She has a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) and an Executive Leadership Certificate from Harvard Business School. Her focus at the farm is on excellence in horse listening, a culture of communication, and precise and joyful riding in hunters, jumpers, and equitation. Kati has been riding since she was three years old when her mom’s hippy friend jumped her over a pile of logs. She was bareback atop a big black mare in a halter and on a lunge line. She rode and showed extensively as a junior and amateur and was very successful in hunters and equitation. She became a professional in the 90s and ran a successful junior/amateur hunter/jumper/equitation show program taking many students to regional medal finals. Moreover, she had multiple championships in the hunters as a rider herself. She was fortunate to ride with coaches Linda Worley, Judy Brawley, and Jeff Cook. As well as attending clinics with George Morris and Judy Richter multiple times. Kati replaced herself in 2004 with Courtney Reid EMT to focus on her executive career in healthcare and went on to be the Chief Administrative Officer at Kaiser Permanente NW, and then the Vice President of Quality for Kaiser Permanente Southern California. She returned to riding hunters and jumpers in 2016 under the tutelage Team McAllister, Buddy Brown and with support from her friend Marnye Langer who leased her an excellent jumper LEGIS Adele. Kati retired young from her corporate career in 2020 and returned to Portland. Since then she has ridden with multiple clinicians including Anne Kursinski, Julie Winkle, Jeff Cook, and Alex Grayton. Since April 2020 she has been offering outdoor respite for multiple kids, adults, and families who want to enjoy horses.
